Greenpeace


Greenpeace is an international environmental organization that is financially and politically independent with offices in over forty countries. The organization was founded in 1971 in Vancouver, Canada to face the U.S' nuclear testing in Alaska. Currently Greenpeace is working to protect the environment
.Greenpeace's international coordinating body is in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. With offices in over 40 countries, hundreds of experts and almost 3 million supporters Greenpeace members have serious political influence. They’re concerned about the overfishing, global warming, commercial whale hunting deforestation and anti- nuclear issues. Greenpeace organization is represented in countries like Poland, Norway, USA, Japan, China and Italy. The most important goals in their campaign are:
  • protection of forests
  • protection of the oceans
  • stop whale hunting
  • they are against nuclear energy and for promoting renewable energy
  • they are also against genetic engineering
  • eliminating the use of toxic chemicals

As you can see, only three of African countries have Greenpeace offices.
